About DNAir

DNAir AG is opening a new frontier in biological intelligence by capturing biodata from the air. Their technology reveals hidden dynamics of non-human life—from biodiversity patterns to pest and pathogen risks—transforming invisible biological signals into actionable insights for conservation, agriculture, and land-use. With a multidisciplinary team at the heart of Zürich’s innovation hub, DNAir is pushing the boundaries of how we monitor nature.

About the Position

This is a science-driven, hands-on internship focused on optimizing air sensor technology to improve the detection of insect biodiversity through airborne environmental DNA (eDNA). You’ll collaborate with DNAir’s molecular team and co-founders to design experiments, refine molecular workflows, and extract meaningful biodiversity data from thin air—literally.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to improve insect detection via airborne eDNA sampling

  • Perform DNA extractions, PCR, qPCR, and metabarcoding

  • Analyze and interpret biodiversity data, including statistical analysis

  • Optimize sampling strategies and molecular workflows

  • Contribute to assay development for metabarcoding of insects

  • Document findings to support ongoing R&D

  • Work independently while receiving close mentorship from the scientific team

Job requirements

About You

  • You’re studying molecular ecology, biology, or a related discipline

  • You have some lab or field experience—though it’s not a must

  • You’re comfortable with DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and statistics

  • You enjoy solving technical challenges and working on complex scientific questions

  • Bonus: English is a must and French or German is a plus

  • Most importantly: You’re curious, driven, and eager to contribute to sustainability through science

Your Benefits

  • You are working closely with the co-founder team, and our science and engineering partners, to use biodiversity tech devices for the detection of insects.

  • Mentorship and guidance from a passionate engineering and molecular science team

  • Participation in the InTent Internship Kick-Off (mid-July) and the Geneva Summit (end of September)

  • Join a global community of like-minded students who are passionate about making a real difference—challenging the status quo to create a more sustainable future for our planet and society
