About the Company – Mosan GmbH and Mosan S.A. Guatemala 

Mosan is a Swiss-Guatemalan social enterprise closing nutrient cycles from sanitation to agriculture. Located in the indigenous village of Santa Catarina Palopó, Mosan pioneers circular solutions by transforming sewage sludge and excreta into biochar through off-grid pyrolysis technology. This mineral-rich product boosts soil health while reducing contamination. As Mosan transitions from grant-funded operations toward financial independence, the organization is exploring innovative financing strategies to scale its impact. 

 

About the Position 

As a Social Business Financing Intern, you will support Mosan in designing and strengthening innovative financing strategies aligned with its hybrid NGO-enterprise model. Your work will help shape the long-term financial sustainability of a growing climate-positive solution provider, while contributing to regenerative impact in rural Guatemala. 

 

Your Role & Responsibilities 

  • Conduct research on impact finance mechanisms, including social impact bonds, blended finance, carbon markets, and private investment 

  • Analyze feasibility, risks, and scalability of various financial models 

  • Contribute to the development of a hybrid financing strategy supporting Mosan’s scale-up 

  • Support financial modeling to evaluate revenue-sharing, grant structures, and investor partnerships 

  • Collaborate with Mosan’s international team and advisors to align financing with the mission and operational realities

Job requirements

 About You 

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, or a related field 

  • Strong in financial analysis, modeling, and strategic thinking 

  • Skilled in research, problem-solving, and partnership development 

  • Experience in development finance, impact investing, or blended finance is appreciated 

  • Fluent in English; Spanish is optional (possibility to join language school) 

  • Motivated by tangible impact in sustainable development, circular economy, and climate resilience
