About the Position
This Engineering for Impact internship places you at the heart of hardware innovation for biodiversity monitoring. Working directly with DNAir’s co-founders and external engineering partners, you'll enhance the design, efficiency, and performance of next-gen air filtration devices. You’ll test new systems, optimize both electrical and mechanical components, and directly influence how biodiversity data is captured from the air.
Job requirements
Your Role & Responsibilities
Optimize electrical and mechanical components, with a focus on performance, durability, and environmental fit
Lead or support part and assembly design (CAD), hands-on prototyping, and mechanical testing
Engage in PCB design, embedded firmware development, and electronics assembly
Integrate microcontrollers, sensors, and power solutions for off-grid operations
Conduct assembly testing, performance analysis, and share feedback with engineering partners
Present your progress and results during internal team meetings
Support rapid prototyping and hardware iteration in a hands-on environment
About You
You’re currently studying Electrical Engineering, Microengineering, or a related field
Students in Mechanical Engineering with strong electronics/firmware skills are also welcome
Comfortable with:
PCB design, electronics assembly, embedded firmware
Microcontroller/sensor integration
Power management for autonomous, off-grid setups
You’re practical, independent, a clear communicator, and thrive in a start-up atmosphere
You care deeply about sustainability and want to use your technical skills to drive positive impact
